Our team of dental health professionals believes in providing each of our patients with personalized, compassionate care that helps them to avoid the need for more invasive treatments and achieve optimal oral health.
At Oceanfront Dental, we believe that every visit to the dentist should be a positive experience. If you resist booking regular preventive care due to fear or dental anxiety, speak to our team. We'll do all we can to ensure that you feel comfortable getting the care you deserve.
Oral Examinations & Digital X-Rays
Comprehensive oral exams, twice yearly, enable our dentists to monitor the health of your teeth, gums, and other areas of your mouth to see if there are any problems.
These exams allow us to identify and diagnose cavities, as well as the buildup of plaque, gum disease, and many other issues, in order to provide you with effective treatment.
During your exam, your dentist will take a close look at the health of your teeth, gums, jaw and bite. Exams may also include digital X-rays, an oral cancer screening and other diagnostic procedures.
Dental Cleaning
A teeth cleaning is often paired with your regular oral exam at our Vancouver clinic. Professional cleaning allows your hygienist to thoroughly clean your teeth and reach areas that a conventional toothbrush can’t access.
These professional cleaning methods can remove bacteria and plaque buildup, reducing the potential for developing gum disease, cavities, and other problems. Plus, dental cleanings can give your teeth a refreshing polish and provide you with a brand new reason to smile!
Dr. Seddon recommends at least two dental cleanings each year to help you maintain healthy teeth and gums.
Caring for Your Smile Between Appointments
A thorough at-home oral hygiene routine is essential for maintaining good oral health. Be sure to brush your teeth at least twice a day for two minutes each time, and floss every day to remove bacteria and debris from between teeth.
Oral Cancer Screening
Oral cancer can affect any part of the mouth or surrounding tissues. Regular oral cancer screenings allows early detection and treatment for a condition that can have serious, even fatal consequences.
The VELscope® oral cancer screening device allows our dentists to perform these quick and painless examinations as part of your regular preventive care appointments at our Vancouver dental clinic. During the exam, your dentist will check the face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, tissues, and gums for any signs of oral cancer which are difficult to detect with the naked eye.
Periodontal Care
Millions of North Americans are affected by gum disease, and many are not even be aware they have it. Untreated gum infections can result in gum recession, bleeding gums, tooth movement, tooth loss, and even risks to your overall health.
At Oceanfront Dental, we treat gum disease with non-surgical techniques designed to remove pockets of bacteria and disinfect the gums. Dental lasers help us to minimize discomfort, enhance precision, and reduce recovery time.
