Prepless Veneers

Prepless Dental Veneers - Oceanfront

What are Prepless Veneers?

Teeth veneers are a cosmetic dental procedure that has helped thousands, perhaps millions, of people all over the globe. Veneers are a wonderful way to quickly perfect your smile, but some get concerned about the amount of tooth reduction involved in the preparation of the teeth. Dr. Seddon, General Dentist, focuses his cosmetic approach on conservative, non-invasive procedures whenever possible – composite veneers, prepless veneers, Invisalign, and the pinhole surgical technique are but a few examples. Prepless veneers are a special technique that allows patients to have veneers without the negative aspects of tooth reduction – sensitivity and reduced lifespan of the veneer itself!

Some patients may qualify for prepless veneers if there is room on the front of the teeth to bring them forward by less than 1mm. Others, however, may benefit more from traditional veneers if there are crowding issues or we are trying to improve on the shade of the teeth. It is a very straightforward procedure involving the preparation and temporization of the teeth in the first appointment and then a final cementation appointment of the porcelain veneers. Dr. Seddon, General Dentist, uses an exclusive lab in Los Angeles, California that is one of the best esthetic dental labs in all of North America.

What is a Dental Veneer?

Dental veneers are layers of composite or tooth-coloured porcelain that are placed on the front part of the teeth. The thin shells are used by cosmetic dentists to correct worn teeth, fix alignment and uneven tooth problems, and can help with chips, cracks, and discoloration that cannot be helped with professional tooth whitening.

What are Veneers for Teeth?

Although tooth veneers are categorized as cosmetic dentistry, they also help restore your smile giving you perfect alignment. Cosmetic veneers can also help protect the surfaces of your damaged teeth eliminating extensive treatments in the future.

What is the procedure for dental veneers?

The dental veneers procedure requires two dental visits. During your first visit, your teeth and gums will be photographed and examined to determine what type of porcelain veneers would be best for you, as some patients prefer prepless veneers.

Once an impression of your teeth has been made, Dr. Nick Seddon, General Dentist, will remove a portion of the enamel to make way for dental veneers. Depending on your smile, you may or may not need temporary tooth veneers while your custom-made porcelain veneers are being made.

During your second teeth veneers appointment, Ocean Front Dental will check for size and colour before permanently bonding into place.

Porcelain veneers are permanent, but there are alternatives. Prepless veneers require little if any removal of the enamel on your teeth and can often be reversed.

What are Lumineers® Dental Veneers?

Lumineers® dental veneers are no-touch veneers cosmetic dentistry treatment that requires two dental visits with a preferred Lumineers® veneers dentist.

These prep-less veneers are much thinner than conventional porcelain veneers and don’t require the aggressive irreversible enamel removal required by standard teeth veneers.

Conventional porcelain veneers may also require anesthesia for pain or sensitivity. Because Lumineers® are un-invasive, temporary dental veneers are not normally required eliminating the need for any type of anesthetic.

What is the average cost of Dental Veneers?

Porcelain Veneers-can cost anywhere between $925.00 to $2,500 for each tooth

Lumineers® Dental Veneers will cost between $900.00 to $2,750.00 per tooth

How long do Dental Veneers Last?

Porcelain veneers can last up to 15 years or more if good oral hygiene is practiced. However, porcelain veneers can damage easily because of the thickness of the porcelain.

Lumineers® can survive 20 years or longer if you brush, floss and schedule regular checkups. Because they are so thin these types of dental veneers resist wear, just as well as traditional teeth veneers.

A beautiful smile doesn’t have to take months. Call or click if you would like more information regarding porcelain veneers or Lumineers®, the prepless veneers alternative.
